I gots some more dirty electro outta France. The man is a classically trained musician, so the know-how is definitely there. Previously mentioned Yuksek recently unleashed his first LP: Away From the Sea – it’s full of Justice like riffs, basslines and melodies to tap your foot to, or hopefully what he intended you to do when the beat hits: move your body. The album as a whole flows nicely. There are traces of Digitalism, Justice, and remixed Soulwax throughout. But it’s varied; we have slow burners on here, too. What caught my eye was a rather interesting guestlist on the LP though – Amanda Blank and Dave 1 of Chromeo fame round out these 13 tracks. Blank’s track is dirty, in the electro sense and not in the “Bump” manner. When she’s on, the girl can flow over most anything. Dave 1′s number has a funky Chromeo like vibe to it; Yuksek sprinkles his club-ready sound underneath Dave 1′s vocals. Sample the two guest spots below.
